Metelec wins prestigious business award

Metelec has won the Growth & Innovation category at the Express & Star Business Awards!

Members of the Metelec team across all areas of the business attended the glitzy ceremony at the University of Wolverhampton at The Halls last night.

Managing Director Kevin Draper said: “We were thrilled to overcome strong competition to win the Growth & Innovation Award in recognition of our significant business development in recent years and the way our operations have adapted to meet the energy challenges of the future.

“Our continued success is testament to the hard work, expertise and dedication of the whole team. It was fantastic to have some of them with us last night to celebrate a landmark achievement and to thank them for their valued efforts.

“We have enjoyed a fantastic year which has seen us achieve many of our goals, including hitting financial targets and relocation to our new premises.

“There is still much to do, however, with plans to increase revenue further while improving the sustainability of the business and continuing to make it a premier place to work.”

Metelec was also a runner-up in the Small to Medium Sized Business of the Year category.

Metelec has enjoyed a long-standing presence in the West Midlands as a metal stockholder but the last year has seen the business move to the next level.

Volume of business has increased considerably while, in the last 12 months, the company moved its Irish business to new premises, established an eye-catching new brand and moved the UK business and HQ from Walsall to a high-tech 47,973 sq ft office and distribution centre in Wolverhampton.

As well as being one of the UK’s largest distributors of copper bars, busbars, copper profiles and copper components, Metelec is also a trusted supply chain partner to a growing number of switchgear specialists, serving a wide variety of sectors including all construction segments. The business also serves the high growth areas of data centres and electric vehicle charging infrastructure and emerging opportunities in wide-scale electrification and infrastructure associated with the green energy transition.

But Metelec’s business model goes far beyond being a traditional supplier, with an advanced manufacturing design service capable of producing specialist, bespoke copper products to customer specification at remarkable pace.

Metelec recently committed to a further circa £400,000 investment on the cutting-edge machines that will further increase its capacity and productivity.
