Metelec seals deal on new Midlands headquarters
Specialist copper stockholder and manufacturer Metelec is relocating to new headquarters in the West Midlands in a deal completed with leading property developer Barberry Industrial.
Metelec will relocate later this year to the new 47,973-square-foot office and distribution centre at Hilton Cross Business Park, Wolverhampton. It will be relocating from its base at Vulcan Industrial Estate in Bloxwich.
The company’s new headquarters is a highly specified, sustainable, EPC A-rated, Grade A building. The investment in new facilities comes on the back of consistent growth in the last two years for the business.
Metelec is one of the UK and Ireland’s leading specialist manufacturers of busbars, and a distributor of copper bar, copper profiles and copper components. It is the UK logistics arm of Gindre Duchavany, the largest manufacturer of copper extruded bars in Europe. The company turns over more than £30 million per annum and is a trusted supply chain partner to a growing number of switchgear specialists. In 2022 the business celebrated its 20th anniversary.
Metelec managing director Kevin Draper said: “This is an exciting time in our development. This new state-of-the-art distribution centre and headquarters reflects our commitment to solid, sustainable growth.
“The brand-new facility has immediate access to the UK motorway network at junction one of the M54. Rated BREEAM Excellent for insulation and thermal efficiency, we will utilise solar panels for zero carbon manufacturing using our state-of-the-art all-electric CNC machinery.
Jon Robinson, development director at Barberry Industrial, said: “Metelec is a West Midlands success story and we are very pleased to have been able to agree a letting at our Wolf Pack development. These are exciting times for the company and we wish them enormous success at the new headquarters right in the heart of the West Midlands, just a few miles from their current base.”
