Hitting the right notes for charity

One of Metelec’s most valued business partners is raising money and spreading hope this Christmas by releasing a charity single.

Irish band The Fulton Collective is supporting The Samaritans Ireland with its moving new song, Heartland.

The song is written by band member John Flattery, who is also the Chief Commercial Officer at Metelec’s Ireland business partner, ARO Logistics.

John penned Heartland after Metelec Managing Director Kevin Draper visited the ARO Logistics team in Tullamore, Ireland, in the summer.

“We had a long day of meetings and discussions, topped by a couple of glasses of Guinness, but John just stayed up and wrote this beautiful single,” said Kevin.

“The song is not only a reference to the ‘heart of Ireland’ where our Tullamore warehouse is based, but refers to a place where we grew up, the relationships we have with the place, and family and friends we leave behind when for various reasons we move on.

“ARO provide efficient and reliable distribution services for us across Ireland. The partnership continues to grow, so we’re really pleased to support John and The Fulton Collective as they raise money for a fantastic cause.”

All proceeds from the song’s digital and physical sales, as well as streams, will directly support Samaritans’ life-saving work.

The band has been profoundly moved by the impact of suicide and mental health struggles.

John said: “We write music to support each other as we all have full but busy lives and have been touched directly and indirectly by suicide, mental illness and depression.

“We are lucky to have found a way through our shared love of music to have an outlet from the rigours of life.

“Many don’t have this and are trapped in a dark place out of fear, embarrassment or other reasons. We hope that the message of hope rings through in this song in an honest and heartfelt way.”

Metelec signed a warehouse agreement with ARO Logistics in April 2023, doubling capacity in Ireland and allowing customers to access products much more easily and quickly.

The partnership continues to mature, with ARO managing the export of added value product for Metelec.
